Today, March 11, 2021 Alba Public School was notified that we have a positive case of COVID-19 in the building. We are working with the Health Department of Northwest Michigan currently to complete contact tracing. Our parents might be contacted by them if your child is deemed to have potentially had close contact with the infected child. As a result of not knowing the exact contact tracing all students should be bringing home Chromebooks this afternoon for potential on-line schooling over the next several days. Alba Public School will be closed on Friday, March 12, 2021 to complete contact tracing and to thoroughly disinfect the building. Once further information has been determined through the Health Department of Northwest Michigan we will be reaching out to the Alba Public School families to inform you.

As a reminder to our students, parents and community members Alba Public School will resume full day (8:00 -3:05) instruction effective Monday, March 1, 2021. All students should arrive to school at 8:00 a.m. for classroom instruction and will be dismissed at 3:05 p.m. daily.

Alba Public School is pleased to announce that our CTC students will be back to face to face instruction effective Tuesday, February 16, 2021. As such, students should arrive at school each morning at 8:00 a.m. to catch the bus to Traverse City. The only exception will be on Friday, February 19, 2021 when the Career Tech Center will be closed for staff COVID-19 Vaccinations.

On Friday, February 12, 2021 Alba Public School will be hosting a winter fun day for our students. In the morning, the elementary students will be allowed to go to the Athletic Field Hill for sledding, then will have their Valentine’s Day parties in the afternoon. Secondary students will be provided opportunities to sled in the afternoon following lunch. Sledding will begin at approximately 9:00 am. for the elementary students. Please have your child dress accordingly. We will be serving our normal school lunch periods with small changes for elementary and middle school student times to accommodate the sledding. In addition, we will be providing hot chocolate and hot dogs while sledding. We will have some sleds provided for student use, but welcome the kids bringing sleds, snowboards and the like to school that morning to enjoy the day. As always, we welcome parents and community members who may want to stop by and enjoy the festivities. As a reminder Alba Public School will be closed to students on Monday, February 15, 2021 to meet for our required professional development with faculty and staff.

Alba Public School will be closed on Friday, February 5, 2021 due to weather conditions and poor roads.

Alba Public School will be closed on Thursday, February 4, 2021 so that our faculty and staff may get vaccinated for COVID-19. We were notified to make appointments for shots today. We will have faculty and staff in and out of the building all day to complete the vaccinations. Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. if you have not already made arrangements with your child's teacher.

Alba Public School students who attend the Career and Technical Center in Traverse City will not have class on Friday, January 29, 2021. The CTC faculty and staff will be off for the day receiving their scheduled COVID-19 vaccinations. The Alba CTC students will be responsible to attend Alba classes in the afternoon that day.

Alba Public School will be closed on Friday, January 22, 2021 due to poor road conditions and visibility.

Alba Public School has changed our two hour delay for the start of school on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 to a full closure. As such, no school will take place on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 due to icy back roads.

Alba Public School returned to face to face instruction following the COVID-19 shutdown and Christmas Break on Monday, January 4, 2021. Students attending the enrichment session each morning should arrive for breakfast prior to 8:00 a.m. to have breakfast and be ready to begin class at 8:00. Students not attending enrichment classes should arrive by 9:00 a.m. for first period. CTC students will be taking these classes remotely on Mondays- Wednesdays and will be in Traverse City for classroom sessions on Thursdays and Fridays. They may either come to the building each morning or attend the remote CTC classes from home and report to the school at lunch time. Dismissal at the end of the day will be at 2:25 p.m.

Alba Public School will be resuming face to face instruction on Monday, January 4. Classes will begin at 9:00 a.m., and the doors will open at 8:00 a.m. for students who need to be dropped off earlier. Please remember to wear your masks at all times. See everyone soon!

Alba Public School will be delivering food to students today, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 starting at approximately 11:00 a.m. For those families who pick-up food at the school this can be done today, beginning at noon until 2:00 p.m. The delivery today will be for two weeks to see our families through the return to school on January 4, 2021.

December 18, 2020 Dear Traverse Bay Area regional school community, As we approach the winter holiday break, we want to take this opportunity to extend warm wishes to all school families for a happy holiday season. In addition, we will continue to follow state guidance and the Response and Preparedness plans of each individual district as we move ahead. Each day, we are reminded of how critically important it is to conduct education in-person and we urge families to continue to take positive steps to help mitigate the spread of germs. Measures we each take right now, such as keeping holiday gatherings small, will be the best way to protect yourself and others from getting sick, and will help support a safe return to in-person learning in the new year. Alba Public School will be distributing food to our students who need it from 10:00 a.m. until noon today, Wednesday, December 16, 2020. The food can be picked-up at the elementary entrance on Elm Street. For those families who need the food dropped off at home, distribution is currently taking place.
